Join our collaborative art project

A Little Piece of Me is a collaborative art project between artist Andrew Christie, the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation Art Program and Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network Palliative Care teams.
The project enables families to create a photographic pixel portrait which is a unique form of digital art that uses many smaller images to create a single large image. The final artwork celebrates the uniqueness of the children and all those who helped contribute to their life experiences. At Bear Cottage the opportunity to participate in this project is offered to bereaved families.
With guidance from Bear Cottage, our families gather photos of people, places and things that helped shape their child’s life. Once collected, the photos were arranged by the artist to create a portrait of their child and the final artwork creatively captures the wonderful lives of the children outside of their illness.
Last year the Romanow family participated to create this wonderful portrait of their son Phillip. His Mum Ana said of the experience:
A Little Piece of Me is a wonderful initiative to reunite the families and honour the memory of our angels. It warms my spirit to find such community support at Bear Cottage
"All of us, who have been through a challenging parenting experience value the kindness, patience and support of being part of the extended Bear Cottage family. I keep in my heart the smile of my son Phillip and the wonderful memories we created together.”
