Antenatal and perinatal palliative care
Bear Cottage supports parents who find out during pregnancy, or shortly after birth that their baby has a life limiting condition. We also support families whose babies have died prior to delivery or shortly after birth.
We empower families in this difficult situation. Our aim is to give families the opportunity to embrace the life of their baby – both before and after birth by providing families with the opportunity to know and honour their baby.
We do this by:
- Giving families access to Bear Cottage to spend time together as a family with their new baby in a supportive, home like environment, away from the clinical setting.
- Providing a peaceful, compassionate space where parents can connect with, care for their baby and create special memories in their time together.
This opportunity is given to both still born babies and families who have chosen a compassionate care approach for their newborn.
